Foundation 2 English Speaking Assessment Information for Students When: Week 8, Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28, in class time All students must bring their Student ID to the speaking assessment. • The assessment is a paired discussion (two students) with two teachers (not your classroom teacher). • The assessment lasts approximately 10 minutes and has three parts: Part 1: General questions. (1 minute each) Part 2: Picture evaluation. (1 ½ minutes each) Individual turn taking. Each student in turn, will be given two pictures to describe and compare. At the end of each individual session, your partner will be asked a question. Part 3: Topic discussion. (4 minutes total) You and your speaking partner will be given a picture related to a topic. You will be asked questions on the picture and topic which you will need to discuss together with your partner. The examiner will also ask you questions. • You will be assessed on : - pronunciation - fluency - language: grammar and vocabulary (accuracy and range) - communicative competence (general ability to communicate). Learning outcome: 2 speak clearly & confidently about familiar topics to a group.
